The last twelve months have brought many challenges and opportunities for CADMHAS, with an expansion of roles and reach.
Elfed Williams, Director of CADMHAS commented:
“CADMHAS has experienced considerable growth over the past year. In addition to previously offering our service in Conwy and Denbighshire, after a successful tender process, we are now offering IMCA (Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy) and IMHA (Independent Mental Health Advocacy) services in Gwynedd, Anglesey, Flintshire, and Wrexham. Following the tender process, we welcomed six new members of staff to take the organisation from strength to strength.”
In May, we recruited a new communications officer in Louisa Moore. Louisa, who has previously worked with North Wales Police and the Farmers’ Union of Wales, is responsible for maintaining our website, creating recruitment advertisements, and designing promotional material for our social media channels.
In August, we placed an advertisement for four new IMCAs to join CADMHAS through our apprenticeship scheme and we will be looking to take on a further three IMCAs to join the scheme in the New Year. The successful candidates will follow a Level 4 Independent Advocacy course, where they will virtually attend college for two days per month. This allows candidates to deliver the IMCA services as defined by the service work programme and complete relevant coursework and gain a Level 4 qualification. Our new IMCAs will be working across North Wales to deliver our service (one working in Gwynedd and Anglesey, two in Conwy and Denbighshire and another in Flintshire and Wrexham). We have subsequently placed an advertisement to hire an IMHA in Powys, once again through the apprenticeship scheme. This will increase our staff team from 19 at the beginning of this year to 34 by March next year.
CADMHAS is a user-led organisation, and, in this time of progress and expansion, we have now started to work on recruiting further trustees for our charity. We are excited to announce that we have started our search for new trustees to join our esteemed board and to bring new perspectives and ideas to the charity. We are welcoming expressions of interest from anyone who has experience in working in mental health, finance, or communication, or who has skills that they feel can benefit us as an organisation.
CADMHAS is continuing to grow, and we remain committed to continually delivering a quality service to our users.
