Independent Mental Health Advocates

mental health support

Our IMHAs are independent mental health advocates who represent you. We don’t work for anyone else.

They can help anyone, either placed under a section or informal, who is being treated for a mental health disorder in hospital or in a registered setting that are subject to a supervised community treatment order (CTO), guardianship order, or have been conditionally discharged.

Our IMHA’s can help support you and make sure your views are heard in meetings; help you understand more on the section you have been put on, assist you in understanding your rights and accessing relevant records. Our IMHA’s can also provide support in many more areas.

In order for our advocates to provide this service, clients must meet the following criteria:

  • Be living in an establishment that is registered with the Health Inspectorate for Wales
  • Be receiving assessment or treatment for mental health problems
  • If living in a community setting individuals must be under a community treatment order, guardianship order, conditionally discharged, or individuals who are restricted patients

How do I make a Referral?

Our preferred method is for referrals to be made via our website – the referral forms can be found here (or by clicking the Referral Forms tab on the menu at the top of the website)

Otherwise, referrals can be made by phone at 01745 813999 or by sending a referral to admin@cadmhas.co.uk
